Come spend some time with Mn Families for Midwifery. Join us as we look to the future of MFM. See where we have come from and be a part of where we are going. We will be providing a picnic lunch, but if you want to bring something to share, that is welcome. There will be a brief presentation of MFM and annual meeting topics will be introduced including open officer positions. (Topics will be voted on in July in accordance to the bylaws of the group, however.) This a great opportun- ity to help midwifery advance in Minnesota!

Welcome to MFM!

A grass-roots citizens' organization promoting midwife-attended births at home, in birth centers, and in hospitals throughout Minnesota

The Midwives Model of Care

The Midwives Model of Care is based on the fact that pregnancy and birth are normal life processes.

The Midwives Model of Care includes:

  • Monitoring the physical, psychological, and social well-being of the mother throughout the childbearing cycle
  • Providing the mother with individualized education, counseling, and prenatal care, continuous hands-on assistance during labor and delivery, and postpartum support
  • Minimizing technological interventions; Identifying and referring women who require obstetrical attention

The application of this woman-centered model of care has been proven to reduce the incidence of birth injury, trauma, and cesarean section.
